 Waterfront Trail (5km, 10km, 25km, 50km and 100km rides)
Registration from 7:45am to 10am, Donegan Park, Cobourg
A new cycling initiative is coming to Northumberland that is sure to be a hit amongst cyclists, residents and young families alike.

Bike Up Northumberland! is a charity ride in support of our hospitals in Northumberland County. This is a joint-event benefiting Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation and Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation. Funds raised will be equally distributed to both Foundations to support the purchase of priority medical equipment. This spirit of collaboration between the Foundations is a first of its kind for their organizations as they work together to advance their mission, which is to raise funds to purchase priority medical equipment for their hospitals.

The cycling route follows the scenic Waterfront Trail from Cobourg to Presqu’ile Park in Brighton. The ride is designed for riders of all ages and abilities. With varying return distances – 5km, 10km, 25km, 50km and 100km – everyone can take advantage of this experience while raising funds to support our hospitals and benefiting from a healthy, active lifestyle.

Registration is now open! Click here to join Bike Up Northumberland!

Cycle Transitions will be assisting at the event with mechanical and “sweeping” support.

In Memory of Jill Mills – a Great Supporter of Cycle Transitions

JillJill Mills, wife of Paul Mills, passed away on June 2nd. We are saddened by her loss. Jill supported Cycle Transitions since its inception, first as an idea of a few individuals, through the hard work starting the organization, and lately with the donation of a tandem bicycle. Jill provided background support for her husband, Paul, one of the initiators of CT and presently our co-ordinator of the Can-Bike safe cycling programs we run.

We extend our condolences to Paul Mills and his family. Visitation will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg, ON, on Saturday, June 6 from 3:005:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home chapel. Those who wish to make a donation in her name, please do so to Cycle Transitions, mailing address: 452A King St. E., Cobourg ON, K9A 1M6.

Northumberland Hills Cycling Club will be making bicycle parking available for those cycling to the service.

CT’s Can-Bike Instructors are in the local schools!

Cycle Transitions’ Can-Bike instructors are holding safe cycling clinics in two schools this spring – Northumberland Christian School, and Merwyn Greer Public School. We’re teaching proper bike and helmet fit, straight line riding, braking, signaling as well as rules of the road and safe road riding practices.IMG_1939 IMG_1923
