Spring Bicycle Donation Drive this Saturday

When: Saturday, April 20 and 27, 2013
Hours: 9a.m. to 12 noon
Where: Cycle Transitions – 739 D’Arcy St., Cobourg (behind the old NuComm building)

We’ll take any bicycle as long as it has potential for refurnishing or for parts (please, no junk bikes!). We’ll refurbish the bicycle and put it up for sale at very low cost to the community, or use it for parts. Some of the bicycles will be available for our “Sweat Equity” program – individuals can receive credit by volunteering at CT and in return use that credit to build their own bicycle from our stock.
Funds generated from the sale of these bicycles or their parts will go towards the operating costs of Cycle Transitions, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization working to increase safe cycling in Northumberland County.

If you have one or more bicycles to donate, but don’t have the means to transport them to CT, give us a call (905.377.1278) or send an email info@cycletransitions.org; we’ll arrange for them to be picked up.

Cycle Transitions is a non-profit organization run by volunteers with the goal of increasing safe cycling in Northumberland County. We operate a fully equipped do-it-yourself bicycle repair shop and offer safe cycling education courses. Our operating hours are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, and Saturday morning from 9 to noon.

What Is a “Swap”?

Our “Swap” is a parking lot sale. Anyone can bring in their equipment, gear, clothing, etc., to be displayed for swap or sale.

Buying Information

The Swap opens at 10:00am Saturday, which is when you will find the best selection. Prices on all used equipment are determined by the individual sellers. All sales are final and paid to the individual sellers. There are no warranties on Swap merchandise unless the individual seller gives one. The used equipment is only at Cycle Transitions for the designated day and potential buyers cannot preview the equipment before the Swap opens on Saturday.

Selling Information

The Swap opens at 10:00am Saturday. The seller must be registered by 9:50am Saturday morning of the swap. Sellers can register prior to the date of the Sale by emailing info@cycletransitions.org or on the day of the Sale. Registration is open on Saturday from 9:00am to 9:50am. There is a registration fee of $10 for individuals, $30 for businesses. The seller takes full responsibility for their own sales.

What will I find at the Swap?

The contents of the Swap depend entirely on what is brought in by our sellers. We do not know in advanced what products we will have, although there we expect a good variety of styles and price. The best selection is available Saturday morning and good deals will go quickly. Please do not call ahead for product information.

Cycle Transitions “Volunteer Night”: Thurs. Oct. 25th

Cycle Transitions is holding a Volunteer Night on the evening of the last Thursday of each month. Our first one is October 25. The focus will be to have a crew of volunteers work on the bikes that need refurbishing or tearing down for parts. Refreshments and baked goodies will be on hand. If you have an hour or two to spare and would like to help, then come on out to the shop. If you want to come and “talk shop”, hang out, that’s fine too!

Date: Thursday, October 25, 2012
Time: 6:30 to 9 p.m.
