Cycle Transitions New Shop Hours for ‘Off – Season’

Hi Cycle Transitions members!

Cycle Transitions is moving into its 3rd month of operations! We’re happy to report that we have more than 40 members, including individuals and family members. We’ve had a good number of folks in to work on their bicycles during our open hours and to help out with various activities. We have dozens of bicycles that are either being refurbished or broken down for parts. We’re starting to find our operational footing – what works and doesn’t work.

To date, we’ve been open Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings. With the winter approaching and fewer folks out on their bicycles, we’re moving into our “off-season” schedule. We’ll now be open Tuesday evenings (6:30 to 9 pm) and Saturday mornings (9 am to noon). For those of you who are year-round riders, you’ll be able to come in for regular cleaning and repairs.

Thanks for all your support!

Cycle Transitions “Volunteer Night”: Thurs. Oct. 25th

Cycle Transitions is holding a Volunteer Night on the evening of the last Thursday of each month. Our first one is October 25. The focus will be to have a crew of volunteers work on the bikes that need refurbishing or tearing down for parts. Refreshments and baked goodies will be on hand. If you have an hour or two to spare and would like to help, then come on out to the shop. If you want to come and “talk shop”, hang out, that’s fine too!

Date: Thursday, October 25, 2012
Time: 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Wish List of items for Cycle Transitions

We’re looking for a few donations that you might have laying about and we could really use!

– coffee maker
– empty see-through jugs (i.e. windshield washer jugs to store used varsol)
– clean paintbrushes
– rags
– “3 in 1” small oil cans
– ziplock bags or milk bags

“Donate your Bicycle” Drive: Saturday September 29th 9am-12noon

We’ll take any bicycle, in any condition. We’ll refurbish the bicycle, use it for parts or scrap it. Some of the bicycles will be available for our “Sweat Equity” program – individuals can receive credit by volunteering at CT and in return use that credit to purchase a refurbished bicycle from our stock.

Funds generated from the sale of these bicycles or their parts will go towards the operating costs of Cycle Transitions, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization working to increase safe cycling in Northumberland County.  (www.cycletransitions.org)

If you have bicycles or parts to donate, but don’t have the means to transport them, give us a call (905.377.1278) or send an email (info@cycletransitions.org); we’ll arrange for them to be picked up.
